Things that go bump in the night.

So it's nearly 10:00pm on a Friday night and the next Mini Exam is on Monday.  I just spent the last hour and a half ironing out the details on a last minute Biochem lecture on Sickle Cell Disease and Thalassemia and--

*BangBangBang!* coming from my front door.

My light is on in the bedroom in the bank and the lights are off in the kitchen/living room in front.  I wait and listen for a minute or two.  I hear some music and voices off in the distance outside.

(Maybe it was just some kids.)

10-15 minutes pass.

*BangBangBang!* this time it was the window, still out in front, coming from the porch.

(Maybe it wasn't just a couple kids.)

I turn off my light, sit in the dark on my laptop, and wait for them to come back one more time.

*BangBang--Scratch...?*

(This is stupid.)

With my little FlipMino in one hand and one of the (many) huge kitchen knives in the other, I was going to see what I could see.  I wasn't going to go through the entire night like this and if worse came to worst I could make a big enough noise to wake up my landlord and his family upstairs.  (They're good people.)

Besides, I'm a brave-ish (?) person. What's the worst that could happen?

And then I take a closer look and move a small cutting board that was propped up behind the fosset, against the window.  I see his silhouette from behind the small kitchen curtain...

The chicken kept on making noise because he was slipping and needed to re-adjust (while flapping his wings and scratching everything) for a better foothold.  I go for the broom, just inside, but he jumps off on his own before I could get to him.

(Only in Dominica.)

lol, that's funny.
Well, it happens in every other Caribbean Island. Good thing it's only a chicken. Virtually harmless =)
