More lucky than good.

The official Mini 2 scores were just released:

Jonathan's 1st Semester Mini 2 Scores (Final):
  • Anatomy = 52.38%
  • Biochemistry = 60.0%
  • Histology = 71.43%
  • Physiology = 73.68%
  • Doctor, Patient, Society = 43.75%
Both of my Anatomy and Biochemistry scores got the bumps I was looking for (formerly Anatomy = 48% and Biochemistry = 56%).  In some ways this is just the result of minor flaws in the test.  In other ways, all it means is that I still don't know the material as well as I should and I'm just more lucky than good.

I've been crunching the numbers and despite my (very) poor performance, I'm still miraculously passing all of my classes (just barely).  And this is only if at the end of the semester the Minimum Passing Score is 60 or 61.

I really didn't want to have to play the numbers game (because I think it hurts you in the long run when it comes to the Comprehensive Final, Shelf Exams, and the Step), but it's hard to not think about it.  I've gotten A's and B's in every Histology & Physiology exam/practical so far.  It doesn't make sense to spend so much time on those subjects from here on out if I'm hovering at 61/62-ish for Anatomy, Biochemistry, and DPS.

This isn't a good position to be in.  I might still be passing but this is a downward trend.  I need to do much better on Mini 3 if I want to pass.
